‎The Osun State House of Assembly has unanimously endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term, ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election, by passing a vote of confidence in his leadership.

‎The motion was moved by Adewumi Adeyemi, representing Obokun State Constituency, and seconded by Taofiq Olayiwola of Ede South Constituency. The endorsement took place during a plenary session on Tuesday, with all 26 lawmakers—25 from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one from the All Progressives Congress (APC)—voicing their support.

‎Speaker Adewale Egbedun, who presided over the session, lauded Governor Adeleke’s achievements as he marked his 65th birthday. He commended the governor’s commitment to Osun State’s development and praised his effective governance and adherence to his five-point agenda.

‎Egbedun emphasized that the Assembly, as representatives of the people, is proud of the governor’s leadership and encouraged him to continue striving for greater progress.

‎While inviting his colleagues to share their thoughts on the endorsement, Simeon Popoola, representing the Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, delivered a heartfelt tribute to the governor, praising his integrity and genuine nature.

‎He said, “Politics aside, Mr Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance.”

‎Following the motion, the Speaker called for a vote, which the chamber upheld.
