
LAGOS GEARS UP FOR GRAND WEEK-LONG CELEBRATION OF CHILDREN’S DAY

The Lagos State Government has announced an elaborate week-long commemoration of the 2025 Children’s Day, joining global festivities in honouring the state’s young population.
Under the theme, “Children: Our Future and Our Responsibility,” the series of events underscores the collective commitment to the well-being, safety, and holistic development of children.
The celebratory activities will commence on Tuesday, May 20th, and culminate on Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, featuring various engagements designed to educate, entertain, and empower young citizens.
The week will kick off on Tuesday, May 20th, with a Youth Forum and Career Talk scheduled to hold at the Education Resource Centre (ERC) Hall in Ojodu-Berger at 10:00 am, alongside a Debate Competition taking place at the Co-Curricular Services Division Office in Akoka, also at 10:00 am.
Mid-week, on Wednesday, May 21st, the Education Resource Centre (ERC) Hall in Ojodu-Berger will come alive with a vibrant Cultural Display at 10:00 am.
Religious observances will also form part of the celebrations, with a Jumat Service on Friday, May 23rd, at the Alausa Secretariat Mosque in Alausa, Ikeja, at 12:00 Noon, followed by a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, May 25th, at the Chapel of Christ the Light in Alausa, Ikeja, at 10:00 am. The week-long event will climax on Tuesday, May 27th, with a grand Parade and Rally at the Police College Ground in Ikeja, commencing at 8:00 am.
Observed annually in Nigeria on May 27th, Children’s Day serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of prioritising the welfare and development of children. This joyous occasion highlights the need to champion their rights, appreciate their individuality, and support their growth, ultimately fostering a brighter future for all.
