Tensions flared in the Ketu area of Lagos State yesterday as multiple eyewitnesses reported that police officers allegedly assaulted an Uber driver during what appeared to be a routine stop.

According to bystanders, the incident occurred in broad daylight when the officers flagged down the Uber driver near the Ketu bus stop.

Witnesses claim the officers forcefully dragged the driver out of his vehicle and physically assaulted him, drawing the attention of passersby who began recording the incident.

“I was standing across the road when I saw them slapping the driver and pushing him to the ground,” said one eyewitness who preferred to remain anonymous.

The reason for the police intervention remains unclear, and the identity of the Uber driver has not been officially released.

Across platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Nigerians are once again voicing their frustration, with many asking the same question: “When will this end?”

The public outcry echoes long-standing concerns about police violence and the lack of accountability in law enforcement.
