By: Motunrayo Aniwura
On Wednesday, an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan ordered the remand of 27-year-old Musa Lamidi in a correctional center over the alleged murder of his father, Rufai.
Lamidi, who has no fixed address, is facing a murder charge.
Magistrate Olaolu Olanipekun declined to take Lamidi’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction and instructed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal review.
The matter was adjourned to July 10 for further mention.
Prosecutor ASP Musbau Lawal told the court that the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on May 11 in Eruwa, Oyo State.
He alleged that Lamidi struck his father on the forehead with a stick, leading to his death.
The alleged offense violates Section 319 of the Oyo State Criminal Laws, 2000.
