The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old man, Mohammed Umar, for allegedly disguising as a woman and loitering suspiciously within the premises of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, noting that Umar, a resident of Abuja Road, Yola, was apprehended following a tip-off from a concerned resident who observed his unusual movements around the church.
Following the report, officers from the Ngurore Divisional Police Headquarters promptly intervened and took the suspect into custody.
Commissioner of Police in Adamawa, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, for further and discreet investigation.
“The command remains committed to ensuring public safety and public order and encourages residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly,” the statement added.
