POLICE ARREST 25 OVER BRUTAL ATTACK ON DPO IN GOMBE’S KWADON COMMUNITY
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The Gombe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 25 suspects linked to a violent attack on the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kwadon Division, CSP Adamu Alhaji-Idi, who sustained serious injuries while performing his lawful duties.
The assault, carried out by suspected miscreants known locally as Kalare, occurred on Tuesday, May 20, in Kwadon town. According to Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the DPO suffered a deep forehead wound and is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe.
“The Gombe State Police Command strongly condemns the recent violent attack on a serving Divisional Police Officer and wishes to inform the general public of the ongoing efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice,” DSP Abdullahi stated.
The Command responded swiftly after receiving a distress call from the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations. A team from Operation Hattara, led by CSP Ali Madaki, was dispatched to the scene and successfully apprehended 25 suspects, all residents of Kwadon.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations visited Kwadon to assess the situation and offer support to officers. The police reiterated their zero-tolerance stance on violence against personnel and pledged to prosecute offenders.
“The era of attacking security personnel with impunity is over,” DSP Abdullahi warned, urging the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with ongoing investigations.
