The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, has launched a coordinated operation to rescue a kidnapped victim following an armed attack in the Byazhin area of Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh.
According to the statement, the operation was triggered by a distress call received around 1:00 a.m. on Monday from officers stationed in front of Grow Homes Estate in Kuchibuyi village, Byazhin. The officers reported an ongoing attack by armed assailants and requested immediate reinforcement.
On arrival at the scene, security operatives discovered that the attackers had breached the estate’s rear perimeter fence and abducted two residents. A fierce gun battle ensued between the police and the armed men, lasting approximately 40 minutes.
