
TAILOR FATALLY STABS MAN TO DEATH IN ONDO

A Magistrate Court in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, has ordered that 23-year-old Faith Adeola be held in police custody for allegedly killing Gbenga Olotu.
Adeola, a tailor, was apprehended by officers of the state police command in connection with the incident, which occurred in the Oka-Akoko community, located in Akoko North-West Local Government Area.
He is accused of fatally stabbing Olotu with a knife on May 8, 2025, during a dispute over a missing stabiliser.
He has since been brought before the court on a single count of murder.
The charge read, “Faith Adeola ‘m’, on May 10, 2025, at about 2:30, at Ikese community, Oka-Akoko, in the Ondo State Magisterial District, did unlawfully stabbed one Olotu Gbenga ‘m’ a.k.a. “Zagazar” with a knife on his chest and also hit him with wood on his body which resulted to his death.”
He further stated that the offence contravened Sections 316 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge but his plea was not taken by the court.
The prosecutor, Folashade Adeyemi, requested that the court remand the defendant at the correctional facility while awaiting legal advice from the state’s Director of Public Prosecution.
In her decision, Magistrate R.I. Adelakin adjourned the case to May 29 for the hearing and ruling on the application.
She subsequently ordered that the defendant remain in police custody until then.
