The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Shu’aibu Abdulkadir, a 35-year-old man suspected of brutally murdering a 22-year-old housewife, Rumaisa Haruna, in her home in the Tsamiyar Duhuwa area of Farawa Quarters on April 6, 2025.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the arrest followed weeks of intensive investigation involving intelligence-led and technical operations. The suspect, a resident of Madatai Quarters, was apprehended on Friday and has since confessed to the crime.

According to the police, Abdulkadir admitted to unlawfully entering the victim’s matrimonial home, where he strangled and stabbed her in the neck, resulting in her death. The suspect remains in custody and is cooperating with investigators to determine if any accomplices or additional motives were involved. He is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The tragic incident came to light when the victim’s husband, Ibrahim Mohammed, discovered his wife in a pool of blood with fatal neck injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, commended the swift and professional work of the investigation team, assuring the public of the command’s firm commitment to protecting lives and maintaining law and order in the state.

The Commissioner also urged residents to stay alert and report suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
