After a brief illness, popular Nigerian gospel singer Bolaji Olanrewaju, also known as Big Bolaji, passed away on April 19 and was buried in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He was fifty years old.

Wednesday’s burial service and lying-in-state took place at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan, marking the start of the last ceremonies.

Family members, close friends, and numerous other gospel singers attended the sorrowful gathering to offer their final condolences.

Notable members of the gospel music scene, including Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Yetunde Are, and well-known comedian Woli Agba, were among those there.

Emotional moments captured on social media showed pallbearers carrying Bolaji’s flower-decked casket into the venue, as mourners gathered in silence.

A moving tribute video chronicling his musical journey and spiritual impact was played during the service, drawing tears and applause from attendees.

Following the service, the burial procession proceeded to All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan, where Big Bolaji was laid to rest.

His wife, siblings, and loved ones stood in quiet reflection as the singer was committed to the earth.
