The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos State Command, on Friday handed over a notorious native doctor, Obi Levi Obieze, to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation into allegations of kidnapping and ritual killings.
Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, “Ezeani,” and “E-Dey-Play, E-Dey-Show,” was arrested while attempting to escape the country on a motorcycle through the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road on May 29, 2025.
The suspect, a native of Umuojor village in Isiagu Community, Enugu State, had been declared wanted in connection with the abduction of a 13-year-old girl and the discovery of multiple corpses believed to be victims of ritual killings.
According to investigators, the teenager was abducted while walking to the farm with her father. The assailants reportedly feigned a motorcycle breakdown, tricked the father into helping, and then fled with the girl. Her cries were later traced to a shrine allegedly operated by Obieze, where she was rescued by local vigilantes and community members.
A further search of the premises led to the shocking discovery of two decomposing bodies of pregnant women sealed in soakaway pits. The incident sparked fear and anger across the Isiagu community.
Three other suspects linked to the abduction — Uche Kingsley Agumba (33), Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi (36), and Ejike Odinwankpa (38) — were earlier arrested by the Enugu State Police Command, while Obieze had remained at large until his recent capture by immigration officers.
During preliminary questioning, Obieze reportedly admitted to the crimes. His identity was confirmed through a National Identity Management Commission slip found on him at the time of arrest.
The Nigeria Immigration Service emphasized its continued cooperation with other security agencies to ensure the suspect faces justice, reaffirming its commitment to national security and the prevention of trans-border crimes.
