NAF AIRSTRIKE NEUTRALIZES 20 TERRORISTS IN ZAMAFARA

On May 31, 2025, the Nigerian Air Force conducted airstrikes in Zamfara State, resulting in the neutralization of over 20 armed terrorists and the destruction of more than 21 motorcycles.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through spokesperson Ehimen Ejodame, announced an operation conducted in the Mai-Galma area of Maru Local Government, aimed at preventing a large-scale assault by armed bandits on local communities. Intelligence reports indicated that a considerable number of terrorists were gathering to attack vulnerable settlements, leading to incidents of violence against farmers and the abduction of civilians, including women and children. In response, NAF aircraft were deployed under Operation FANSAN YAMMA for armed reconnaissance and potential rescue efforts.

Ejodame reported that upon their arrival, over 30 motorcycles carrying armed terrorists were identified heading into a nearby forest. In response to the sighting of aircraft, the terrorists opened fire, which prompted a precise military engagement resulting in the destruction of several motorcycles and the neutralization of numerous terrorists. Subsequently, ground forces were deployed to capitalize on the situation, confirming the destruction of enemy assets and the neutralization of more than 20 terrorists.

The NAF issued a statement regretting the loss of two local vigilantes who died and two others who were injured during an operation. They emphasized their commitment to collaborating with local communities to enhance safety and security. Efforts are currently in progress to locate and rescue the kidnapped villagers from the nearby forest.
