INEC DENIES SUSPENSION OF WARD DELINEATION IN WARRI FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed reports claiming it suspended action on the proposed delineation of wards in Warri North, Warri South, and Warri South West Federal Constituency of Delta State.
In a statement on Monday, National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, clarified that contrary to a newspaper report, no such suspension had been ordered by the Commission.
Olumekun noted that the delineation exercise, as directed by the Supreme Court in its judgment of December 2, 2022, remains under consideration, but no final decision has yet been reached.
He added that the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise is currently being conducted in all local government areas within the constituency.
The Commission urged all stakeholders to remain peaceful while the process continues.
