LAGOS POLICE ARREST SECURITY GUARD OVER KIDNAP OF 2-YEAR-OLD
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a security guard, identified as Amos Kini, for allegedly abducting a two-year-old boy in the Elemoro area of the state.
The incident occurred on September 21, 2025, when the child’s mother reported that her security guard had fled with her son and mobile phone. Kini later used the stolen phone to contact the boy’s father, demanding a ransom of ₦5 million for the child’s release.
According to police spokespersons, operatives from the Elemoro Division launched an immediate response, questioning one Aruna Dauda, who had stood as guarantor for Kini’s employment. Intelligence-led surveillance and sustained operational pressure forced Kini to release the child unharmed.
On September 23, operatives of the Tactical Squad (Hyena) tracked and arrested Kini at his hideout in the Elemoro area. He reportedly confessed to the crime and remains in custody pending further investigation and arraignment in court.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, condemned the abduction, describing it as a heinous act against an innocent child. He reiterated the command’s commitment to combating violent crimes and urged parents to remain vigilant.
Jimoh also called on members of the public to report suspicious activities via the police emergency lines 08063299264, 09053872208, and 08087332678.
