Billionaire Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual globally, is approaching the halfway mark in becoming the first trillionaire on the planet, as reported by Forbes magazine on Wednesday.

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX became the inaugural individual to attain a net worth of $500 billion, albeit temporarily, as shares in his electric vehicle enterprise recovered from his awkward engagement in politics, alongside other gains.

The 54-year-old’s net worth reached $500.1 billion on Wednesday before retreating to $499.1 billion, according to the publication’s “Real-Time Billionaires” tracker.

Trailing behind him are Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, with a net worth of $350.7 billion, followed by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, boasting a net worth of $245.8 billion on the Forbes list.

After earning his degree from the University of Pennsylvania and subsequently leaving Stanford University, Musk accumulated his first millions when he sold an online publishing software company to US computer manufacturer Compaq for over $300 million in 1999.
