A fire on Thursday evening gutted the training office of Sun Watt’s Solar and Electrical Company in the Iwo Road area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

The blaze, which broke out on the upper floor of the Salinsile building, destroyed electrical appliances and equipment worth several millions of naira.

Confirming the incident, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Fire Service Reform and Agency Chairman, Hon. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, said firefighters received a distress call at exactly 6:12 p.m. and promptly curtailed the fire before it spread to other parts of the building.

“No casualty was recorded, and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the fire service. The root cause is yet to be established, but post-fire investigations are ongoing,” Akinwande said.

He advised residents to prioritise fire safety, install extinguishers, and promptly call emergency hotlines during incidents.

Ibadan has recorded multiple fire disasters in recent years, including the 2020 Dugbe Market inferno and the 2023 Bodija Plank Market fire, which caused losses running into billions of naira.
