Mr. Joseph Oluwabamiwo Aloba, father of late Nigerian music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has petitioned the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), demanding the prosecution of his son’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba, Prime Boy, and others indicted in the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.

In a petition dated October 3, 2025, and signed by his counsel, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), Aloba urged the Attorney General to initiate prosecution within 14 days based on the verdict of the coroner’s inquest delivered by Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi on July 11, 2025.

The coroner had indicted auxiliary nurse Ogedengbe Fisayo for unlawful medical practice and gross negligence, while also faulting Omowunmi Aloba for negligence in seeking appropriate medical care for the deceased. Others present in Mohbad’s apartment at the time of his death, including Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Prime Boy, were equally faulted for either facilitating the invitation of the unqualified nurse or failing to promptly take him to a hospital.

Dr. Shittu stated that, despite the coroner’s clear findings, no prosecutorial steps had been taken nearly three months after the verdict. He added that if the Attorney General was unwilling to act, a fiat should be granted to enable them prosecute the case on behalf of the state.

Citing the coroner’s observations, Shittu noted that Nurse Fisayo administered injections without proper diagnosis and without being a licensed medical practitioner, while Omowunmi, as Mohbad’s closest relative, failed to insist on emergency services despite witnessing the medical crisis.

Aloba maintained that justice must not only be done but seen to be done, stressing the sensitivity of the case and the public outrage it continues to generate.
