END OF AN ERA: ELDER STATESMAN CHRISTOPHER KOLADE DIES AT 92

Respected media personality and former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr. Christopher Kolade, has passed away at the age of 92.
The family disclosed the esteemed statesman’s demise in a statement released on Thursday.
The announcement indicated that the late ex-Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria departed peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
“We express our gratitude for his remarkable life of faith and service, and we are thankful for God’s plentiful blessings,” the statement partially conveyed.
Kolade enjoyed a distinguished career as a diplomat, academic, advocate for integrity, and proponent of corporate governance, among other roles.
Born in 1932 in Erin-Oke, Osun State, Kolade was the offspring of an Anglican missionary. He attended Government College, Ibadan, before moving on to Fourah Bay College in Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he completed his higher education.
Kolade launched his career in broadcasting, ultimately ascending to the role of Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation.

He subsequently became Chief Executive and Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, where he was widely celebrated for his ethical leadership and corporate innovations.
The late Kolade also represented Nigeria as High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, leaving a legacy characterized by diplomacy, integrity, and professionalism.
Kolade imparted knowledge on Corporate Governance and Human Resources Management at the Lagos Business School and Leadership & Conflict Management at the School of Media & Communication, both affiliated with Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos.
A former member of the university’s Governing Council, Kolade also held the positions of Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, and later served as Chancellor of McPherson University, Ogun State.
Deeply devoted to advocating for ethical standards in business, Kolade presided over various integrity-focused organizations, including Integrity Organisation Ltd GTE and The Convention on Business Integrity Ltd GTE.
