
TINUBU PAYS TRIBUTE TO KOLADE, CALLS HIM A SYMBOL OF BRILLIANCE AND SERVICE
President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow at the demise of esteemed broadcaster, diplomat, and corporate leader, Dr. Christopher Kolade, characterizing him as one of Nigeria’s most distinguished intellectuals and a paragon of integrity.
In a personally penned homage on Thursday, the President remarked that he received the news of Dr. Kolade’s passing “with deep regret,” emphasizing that the nonagenarian left a lasting impact in public service, education, and the corporate sector.
“Dr. Kolade was a steward of our corporate history, particularly in relation to corporate governance and human resources management. He was a pivotal figure in esteemed institutions such as the Lagos Business School,” stated Tinubu.

The President portrayed the late elder statesman as “remarkably intelligent, statesmanlike, industrious, and of unquestionable integrity,” noting that his dedication to transparency and accountability in governance distinguished him as a true patriot.
“Dr. Kolade was not merely a boardroom luminary, having served as the former chief executive and chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, but he was also a patriot and a steadfast proponent of transparency and accountability in governance.
“He served Nigeria with unwavering commitment, honesty, and dedication. From his beginnings as a colonial-era education officer to his roles as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation, Dr. Kolade indelibly marked every endeavor he undertook,” he added.
Tinubu also commended Kolade’s philanthropic efforts, particularly through the Christopher Kolade Foundation, which aided sickle cell patients and championed education and ethical leadership.
He remarked, “I remember his numerous humanitarian efforts through the Christopher Kolade Foundation, especially his assistance for sickle cell patients, a cause to which he generously contributed a significant portion of his income. ”
“Dr. Kolade’s departure is heartbreaking, yet we must honor his life and legacy. He lived an exemplary life and secured his legacy through his exceptional service to our nation and humanity,” the President expressed, invoking prayers for God to grant him eternal peace.
Dr. Kolade, a former Chairman and Chief Executive of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at the age of 92, as confirmed by a family statement released on Thursday.
Born in Erin-Oke, Osun State, in 1932, Dr. Kolade is survived by his wife, Beatrice, along with his children and grandchildren.
