LAGOS POLICE COMMAND MOURNS DPO FESTAC DIVISION, CSP MATILDA NGBARONYE

The Lagos State Police Command has announced the death of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye, who passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, after undergoing surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.

In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command described CSP Ngbaronye as an upright, dedicated, and professional officer whose service to the nation was marked by integrity, discipline, and compassion.

“The Command mourns the loss of a truly upright and dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity. Until her passing, she was known for her diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty,” the statement read.

The statement added that CSP Ngbaronye’s humane approach to policing and her friendly relationship with the public contributed immensely to strengthening community trust and cooperation in the Festac Division.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundāre Jimoh, expressed deep sorrow over her death, describing it as a painful loss to the Command. He, alongside officers and men of the Lagos State Police Command, extended heartfelt condolences to her family, including her husband and elder brother, who is a priest, as well as her aged mother.

“The Commissioner of Police has personally reached out to her family to convey the Command’s sympathy and to assure them of the Command’s support during this difficult time,” the statement added.

The Command noted that burial arrangements for the late officer would be communicated in due course.

CSP Matilda Ngbaronye was widely respected within the Force for her professionalism, humility, and strong moral values.

The statement concluded with a prayer:

“May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
