The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has informed the Federal High Court in Abuja that he will no longer proceed with his initial plan to call witnesses in his ongoing trial for alleged terrorism charges.

Kanu told the court that he has chosen not to present any defence because, according to him, the prosecution has failed to establish a case against him.

Presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, directed Kanu to submit a written statement formally explaining his position and to ensure it is served on the prosecution team.

Justice Omotosho also advised the IPOB leader to seek legal counsel from criminal law experts to fully understand the implications of his decision to abandon his defence.

The court has adjourned the case to November 4, 5, and 6 for the presentation of final written arguments from both the prosecution and the defence.

Kanu maintains that neither the evidence presented nor the charges filed by the Federal Government have proven any wrongdoing against him, reiterating that he has no case to answer.
