DABIRI-EREWA HAILS 18-YEAR-OLD NIGERIAN WHO BECOMES ONE OF COUNTRY’S YOUNGEST COMMERCIAL PILOTS
The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated 18-year-old Muhammad Aminu Sani for making aviation history by earning a United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot Licence from Phoenix East Aviation (PEA) in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Dabiri-Erewa described Sani’s achievement as a remarkable display of brilliance, resilience, and determination — qualities that reflect the potential of Nigerian youths who continue to excel globally when given the right opportunities and mentorship.
According to the NiDCOM boss, the young aviator’s milestone “is a shining example of what Nigerian youths can achieve when hard work meets passion and support.”
She lauded Sani for completing the rigorous training programme in less than 12 months — an outstanding feat achieved without a single checkride failure, a rarity even among experienced trainees.
“His discipline, focus, and commitment to excellence are truly commendable. Sani’s success is a source of national pride and a beacon of hope for millions of young Nigerians striving to make their mark around the world,” Dabiri-Erewa said.
Sani, who recently turned 18, expressed joy at fulfilling his childhood dream.
“Becoming a pilot has always been my childhood dream, and today I’m proud to say I’m living that dream and enjoying every step of the journey. I hope my story inspires others to chase their dreams with determination and never give up on what they believe,” he said.
Born and raised in Abuja, Sani completed his secondary education at Al-Hidaayah Academy before earning a Foundation Diploma in Economics with distinction from The Regent College, Abuja. He later proceeded to the United States for professional flight training.
At Phoenix East Aviation — one of the world’s top FAA-certified flight schools — Sani trained under diverse and demanding conditions, including night flights, instrument navigation, and multi-engine operations, maintaining an impressive 97% average score in all FAA written examinations.
Dabiri-Erewa encouraged the young pilot to continue pursuing excellence as he works toward joining a leading international airline, saying his achievement “will continue to inspire a new generation of Nigerians who dream of contributing to global industries.”
The NiDCOM chief reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting and celebrating Nigerians who bring pride to the country through innovation, hard work, and professionalism.
