The official sponsor of the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), TotalEnergies, has kicked off the tournament’s trophy tour in Lagos, Nigeria, marking the beginning of a continent-wide journey ahead of the competition scheduled to begin on December 21, 2025, in Morocco.

The public viewing took place on Wednesday at Marcellina’s Place, 36 Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, bringing together football fans, officials, and media representatives to witness the arrival of the iconic AFCON trophy.

Organized by TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc in partnership with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the Trophy Tour aims to bring the excitement of Africa’s biggest football tournament closer to fans across the continent.

The Lagos stop marks the first phase of the trophy’s journey through five African countries that have qualified for the 35th edition of the tournament — Nigeria, Angola, South Africa, Ivory Coast, and Morocco.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Samba Seye, Managing Director of TotalEnergies Marketing Nigeria Plc, said the company was proud to play a leading role in connecting Africans through football.

“We are delighted to host the first stage of the Trophy Tour here in Lagos, Nigeria, and kick off the 2025 tournament.

“Being the partner of African football is a great source of pride. Football is a universal, federating sport that is synonymous with joy, enthusiasm and, of course, energy,” he said.

The Trophy Tour gives fans the opportunity to see the iconic AFCON trophy up close and share in the excitement ahead of the 2025 tournament, which will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in Morocco.

TotalEnergies reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sports and youth engagement across Africa, describing football as a major unifying force on the continent.

The tour will proceed to other participating countries in the coming weeks before making its final stop in Morocco, where the next AFCON champion will be crowned.
