ATALANTA SACK COACH IVAN JURIC AFTER BACK-TO-BACK SERIE A DEFEATS
By Aishat Mmoh. O.

Croatian manager Ivan Juric has been sacked as head coach of Atalanta following a string of poor results that left the Serie A club languishing in the bottom half of the table.
The decision came after Atalanta’s 3–0 home defeat to Sassuolo on Sunday, a result that dropped them to 13th place in the standings.
Atalanta, who had opened the season with a nine-match unbeaten run though seven of those were draws have now suffered consecutive defeats to Udinese and Sassuolo.
In a statement on Monday, the Bergamo-based club confirmed that Juric and his entire coaching staff had been relieved of their duties.
Juric, who had an ill-fated spell at Roma last year that lasted less than two months, took over at English side Southampton afterward but resigned in April when the club suffered the earliest relegation in Premier League history.
He succeeded long-serving Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini, who departed for Roma in the summer after a successful nine-year tenure marked by Champions League qualifications and an attacking brand of football.
While Atalanta have struggled domestically this season, their European campaign has been more promising the club sits 16th in the Champions League group stage with seven points from four matches.
The club is expected to announce Juric’s successor in the coming days as they look to revive their Serie A form.
