OPERATIONAL REPORT ON INCIDENT FROM OWERRI, IMO STATE CAPITAL

In an attempt to coerce the operators into granting an unlawful outage, state government agents purportedly acting on behalf of the Imo State Government broke into and damaged the control rooms at the Egbu 132/33kV Transmission Substation, according to information obtained from Owerri.
All NISO employees working at the impacted facilities were taken captive and made to open the breakers by the operatives after they forcibly disconnected them at gunpoint. Information has been obtained thus far from attempts to contact the Imo State Government for clarification.
No government agency or State Electricity Regulatory Commission person has gotten in touch with NISO about the issue as of the time of this report, and no update has been given. The management of NISO is extremely concerned about the ongoing lack of official communication regarding the status of our employees.
NISO Management has decided to wait until 6:00 p.m. today, November 15, 2025, to determine the whereabouts and safety of the impacted staff due to the gravity of the situation and the threat it poses to the national grid. If no information is received, all transmission substations in Owerri will be cut off from the national grid.
