The Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Hon. Dayo Bush Alebiosu, today met with the management staff of the Ministry to review past achievements and outline a renewed strategic direction for the year 2026.

In his address, Hon. Alebiosu commended the Ministry for its notable progress over the past year, emphasising that the successes recorded are a testament to the dedication and resilience of the workforce. He reiterated this administration’s commitment to strengthening waterfront infrastructure and promoting sustainable development across Lagos State.

The Honourable Commissioner highlighted several major achievements recorded during his tenure, including the creation of critical waterfront schemes such as the Okun-Ajah Scheme, Okunde Scheme, Agboyi Ketu Jetty and other laudable projects. He further declared that enforcement operations will be intensified in 2026 to protect the rights of rightful property owners within these schemes.

“We have to enforce the Law. We are very much aware of some encroachers on these schemes; therefore, our body language must conform with the language they speak,” he stated.

Looking ahead to Y2026, Hon. Alebiosu affirmed that it will not be business as usual, revealing that a new policy direction will be introduced to reposition the Ministry for greater efficiency, improved service delivery, and enhanced public confidence. This renewed approach, he noted, will inject fresh zeal into the workforce and align the Ministry with the State’s broader developmental agenda.

Alebiosu also disclosed that a stronger and more beneficial synergy will be established in the coming months, as collaborative activities are already underway with the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and its Agencies. This partnership, he explained, aims to ensure strict adherence to the State’s building and construction regulations, promote orderly development, and guarantee compliance with laid-down standards across waterfront areas.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Esv. Wasiu Olayinka, who was also present at the meeting, urged all Heads of Departments and Units to cultivate the habit of togetherness and foster stronger synergy to ensure that the Ministry’s goals for 2026 are fully achieved. He urged the management staff that their cooperation, teamwork and collaborative efforts would propel the Ministry to greater heights in the New Year.
