IKEJA LG: AKOD MARKS 100 WORKING DAYS WITH YOUTH LEADERSHIP, PROJECT COMMISSIONING, FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH
By Aishat Momoh. O.

The Ikeja Local Government on Monday commenced activities to mark the first 100 working days of the Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), with a landmark Day One celebration featuring youth leadership, education reform, healthcare support and infrastructural development.
A major highlight of the event was the symbolic leadership exercise tagged One-Day Chairman, One-Day Vice Chairman and One-Day Leader of the House, described as an unprecedented initiative in Nigeria’s local government administration. The day’s activities were led by the One-Day Chairman, Miss Zainab Ismail, a pupil of St. Peter’s Primary School, Alausa, and winner of the 2025 Ikeja Spelling Bee Competition.
Under her leadership, Miss Ismail commissioned the newly rehabilitated Morenike Close, marking a notable infrastructural upgrade in the community. She also presided over the commissioning of 12 newly renovated classroom blocks equipped with modern desks, chairs and improved learning materials, in line with the administration’s drive to enhance educational standards in Ikeja.
As part of the social intervention programme for the day, a free medical outreach was organised for 200 senior citizens. Beneficiaries received free medical tests, drugs, medical kits and special cash support, reflecting the administration’s commitment to the welfare of the elderly.
The council said the activities align with the I.K.E.J.A Agenda, the policy blueprint of the AKOD-led administration, aimed at delivering improved governance and social impact for residents.
Dignitaries at the event included the Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore; the Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Taiwo Odubeko; the six councillors led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Ogunseye Rasheed Adisa; APC Ikeja LGA Chairman, Alhaji Dally Adeokun; as well as Engr. Kehinde Akinola, Chief Ologunde, Apostle Olowoporoku and other party leaders and community stakeholders.
Activities to mark the 100 working days celebration are expected to continue with further project commissioning and community engagements on Day Two.
