The caretaker committee secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State, Dr. Michael Tidi, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Speaking at a defection event in Warri, Tidi said his former party no longer had the strength to win elections in the state. He expressed satisfaction at joining the APC, describing it as a reunion with longtime political associates.

The two-term former Chairman of Warri South Local Government under the PDP said that after carefully reviewing the political situation, he decided it was best to align once again with his allies.

“I am here in the APC to contribute to the success story,” he stated.

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Weyinmi Agbateyiniro; the APC chairman in the council, Richard Pessu; and the member representing Warri South Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Augustine Uroye, among other leaders, welcomed the defectors. They described the move as a positive step for the party.

The development comes after Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who was elected on the PDP platform, also defected to the APC alongside several prominent party leaders.
