LALONG REITERATES HIS COMMITMENT TO START POLO IN PLATEAU
By Adeniyi Onaara
Plateau Gov. Simon Lalong has reaffirmed his commitment to growing the sport of polo in the state.
According to Dr Makut Macham, the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Lalong said this at the start of the 2022 Jos Polo Tournament on Wednesday in Jos.
He claimed that the game of polo had etched Plateau’s name in the annals of history through national and international competitions.
Lalong, who also inaugurated a new Polo Club, stated that the restoration of peace in the state has allowed polo and other social activities to return to Plateau.
He urged Plateau residents to maintain the peaceful coexistence that has existed in the state since its inception.
The governor stated that the situation has attracted visitors to the state, resulting in increased business.
Murtala Laushi, President of the Jos Polo Club, thanked Lalong in his remarks for approving the relocation of the annual Jos Trade Fair from the Polo playground.
He stated that the relocation would aid in maintaining the field’s and infrastructure’s quality.
The Polo tournament will feature 42 teams from South Africa, Argentina, and the United Kingdom, according to Laushi.
