CONFUSION AS CBN PORTAL REDIRECT CUSTOMERS TO COMMERCIAL BANKS FOR RETURN OF OLD N500, N1000 NOTES
By Aishat Momoh. O.
The Portal that was created by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for the return of old N500 and N1000 notes leaves customers confused as it redirects them back to the Commercial banks for deposits below N500,000.
Meanwhile, the CBN on Friday, in a statement denied that it instructed Commercial Banks to accept the N500 and N1000 old notes from it’s customers.
Consequently, the CBN said it created a portal for people with the old N500 and N1000 notes to register how much they want to deposit and get a referral code to confirm their registration.
The reference code will be used to deposit the old notes at any of the CBN offices across the country.
