
ANAMBRA POLICE ARRESTS GUNMAN AT POPULAR HOTEL IN AWKA

Surveillance Operatives of Anambra State Police Command have arrested a lone gunman at a popular hotel (name withheld) in Awka.
In a press statement on Sunday morning, signed by DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the state police command, he said that the Surveillance Operatives who observed the man prowling around the premises on 20th July. 2023 accosted him and conducted a search on his person. One English-made pistol and three rounds of live ammunition were recovered from him.
The suspect who gave his name as Akuchieani Echezona, a male resident of Ifite Awka, was disarmed, arrested and taken into custody.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has ordered State CID Awka to take over the case and investigate source of the weapon as well as the gunman’s intention for going armed to the hotel.
“The suspect is to be arraigned in court at conclusion of investigation.”
