LAGOS STATE REITERATES COMMITMENT TO FREE EDUCATION

The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to free and qualitative education in the State.
The statement was made by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji during the monitoring of the conduct of the examination at all designated Schools’ Centres for the year 2023 Placement Test by Continuous Assessment Scores (CAS).
While addressing a large number of Parents/ Guardians and Stakeholders at EKO AKETE Grammar school, Lagos Island, he emphasizeed that the government will continue to drive its policy of ” Leave no child behind initiative. This is to accommodate the Primary Six Pupils who have completed their six years at Primary Level to be placed into Government Public Secondary Schools in the State for the Year 2023/2024 Academic Session.
The Permanent Secretary also intimated that the Education in Lagos State is free , adding that the Common Entrance Examination is also free. He stated that we have children from both Public and Approved Private Schools sitting for the examination.
Mr. Abayomi also informed that a total of One Hundred and Seventy – Six Thousand , Three Hundred and Sixteen (176,316) Candidates were duly registered for the examination but 250,000 were estimated by the Ministry of Education to meet up with the state’s policy and Four Hundred and Five (405) Centres across the State were provided.
He gave a satisfactory remarks on the conduct of the examination, noting that the environment is very conducive and the sitting arrangements of the candidates was a good one to avoid the examination malpractice.
In conclusion, he appreciated the State Government for making the funds available for a successful exercise.
