DABIRI-EREWA CONGRATULATES ANOTHER NIGERIAN, OLATEJU ON HIS APPOINTMENT AS COMMISSIONER IN MARYLAND, US
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), has congratulated Dr. Oluwatosin Olateju, a fellow Nigerian-born citizen, on his appointment as a commissioner in the US state of Maryland.
This comes only days after Dr. Olusimbo Ige became the first African American woman to be chosen to the position of Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health.
According to the head of NIDCOM, the Commission would never grow weary of honouring the Diaspora luminaries who have brought glory and notoriety to the nation via their chosen professions.
According to Erewa, it is especially encouraging that more Nigerian women are shining internationally and projecting a strong, positive picture of Nigeria overseas.
Following the appointment of Dr. Olusimbo Ige as Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Public Health, Olateju’s nomination as Commissioner in Maryland, US, was hailed by her as an additional blessing for Nigeria.
Born in Nigeria Governor Wes Moore of Maryland has nominated Dr. Oluwatosin Olateju, the first black woman in the history of the state, as a commissioner and co-chair of the recently formed Commission on Public Health.
The Commission will assess the foundational public health capabilities of the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) and Local Health Departments (LHDs), and make recommendations to improve the delivery of foundational public health services in the state.
