By Sefiu Ajape
On Thursday, the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy announced the commencement of applications for teaching positions under its Build-A-Thon initiative program.
According to Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, the program was introduced earlier in December and will encourage senior secondary pupils to adopt technology early.
It is anticipated that 1,500 pupils from 150 schools in three locations, Owerri, Maiduguri, and Abeokuta will participate in the four-day event in January 2024.
The ministry announced the call for applications from prospective teachers on Thursday via X.
The ministry went on to say that the ideal applicants would be forward-thinking instructors, visionaries, and enthusiasts who could mentor secondary school students who would be the next wave of tech pioneers.
Candidates that meet the requirements may apply on the program’s website.
“The Build-A-Thon initiative is part of our strategic plan to promote early-technology adoption to shape tomorrow’s innovation leaders,” the minister commented on the program’s recent introduction.
He added that the program’s overarching objectives include exhibiting creative ideas, honoring accomplishments, encouraging future teamwork, motivating future leaders, and encouraging lifelong learning.
