A tow truck driver has died while four others sustained injuries in a road crash along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Road on Saturday.

The crash reportedly occurred at about 11:40 a.m. around Ajede Junction, Ogun State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the crash, saying it involved three men and three women.

“Four persons were injured and unfortunately, one person died,” the Ogun State FRSC spokesperson, Florence Okpe, said in a statement.

Okpe disclosed that a Toyota Sienna with number plate FKJ551FE had rammed into a tow truck with the number plate, BDG733GH.

The tow driver was said to have parked the vehicle on the shoulder of the road, and he died due to the impact of the crash.

“The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed which led to loss of control and the Sienna car collided with the towing vehicle parked on the hard shoulder of the road, killing the driver of the towing vehicle,” Okpe said.

The statement added that the FRSC, police and other responders carried out the rescue operation.

“The injured victims were taken to Ronna Hospital, Ijebu-Ode, while the corpse was deposited at the General Hospital morgue, Ijebu-Ode,” it was stated.

The state command of the FRSC, therefore, advised motorists to obey simple traffic rules and consider other road users.

It was reorted that a yet-to-be-identified woman, on Thursday, was crushed to death by a truck allegedly belonging to the Dangote group, in Ogun State.

The incident occurred at Dalemo-Ota, along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The FRSC, in a statement on Friday, said the woman was standing by the roadside when she was crushed by the truck.

Okpe stated that “the crash occurred at about 2300hrs late hours of Thursday night, involving a Dangote Truck. The truck is marked XA354WDP.

“The suspected cause of the fatal crash was excessive speed and mechanical fault (break failure) of the Dangote truck, which later hit a female adult standing by the roadside and she died on the spot.”
