EXCITEMENT AS KANO RESIDENTS WELCOMES GOV. YUSUF HOME AFTER S’COURT VERDICT
Two days after the Supreme Court upheld his victory in the March 18, 2023, governorship election, Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, has returned to his home state.
The governor had been fired by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal and the Court of Appeal earlier, but the highest court overturned their ruling on Friday.
When the governor of Kano State arrived in Tamburawa, Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, on Sunday, crowds of people flocked to the streets.
Governor Yusuf chose to go to the state capital rather than take a plane, so fans and well-wishers flocked to Chiroma town, which borders Kano and Kaduna, as early as six in the morning. They were anxious to see the governor arrive.
As soon as the Governor arrived Kwanar Dangora the mammoth crowds busted into singing and dancing, having passed through some major towns in the neighbouring Kaduna State, acknowledging cheers from the people there.
As at the time of filling this report, Governor Yusuf’s convoy is expected to drive straight to Filin Mahaha in Kano metropolis where he will address the people later in the day.
Yusuf is coming to Kano for the first time since the Supreme Court Judgement that affirmed him as the duly elected governor of the state.
