SOLDIERS BAR JOURNALISTS FROM COVERING DELTA GOV’S VISIT TO TROUBLED COMMUNITY
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori visited the turbulent Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State on Monday, four days after military officers and civilians were killed there, to determine the extent of the destruction.
Journalists were not permitted to cover the governor’s evaluation tour of the troubled hamlet, though, according to the military Joint Task Force.
Using an armoured personnel carrier tank, JTF agents blocked the main entrances of Okuama, preventing both human and vehicular traffic—including journalists—from entering the area.
However, Oborevwori was welcomed by Major General Jamaal Abdulsalam, the head of the JTF and the Nigerian Army’s 6th Division.
They went to a meeting behind closed doors that lasted for almost sixty minutes.
