PROPERTIES DESTROYED AS FIRE RAZED ONE-STOREY BUILDING IN ANAMBRA
A fire broke out in a one-story building on Atani Road near Uga Junction, Okpoko, in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, resulting in the destruction of some assets.
Although the exact source of the fire is yet unknown, it appears to have begun in the wee hours of Friday.
An eyewitness in the vicinity stated that the fire originated from a piece on the top floor and began to burn before the state fire service workers arrived. They fought to contain the fire and stopped it from spreading to other buildings nearby.
Chukwudi Chiketa, the state fire service chief, confirmed the occurrence in a statement, stating that firemen were sent to the location right away and fought to contain the fire.

Chiketa said, āA distress call was received by the Anambra State Fire Service at 05:17 hours of today, Friday, June 7, 2024. The fire incident occurred on the top floor of a one-storey building inside GMO Company, situated at Atani road by Uga junction, Okpoko.
āThe Anambra State gallant firefighters were deployed immediately, with a fire truck to the scene of the fire, they fought and contained it. Though the top floor of the one-storey building was affected there were many savings, including other structures and properties inside the companyās premises. The Firemen were able to control the fire from escalating beyond the top floor.
āThe cause of the fire is not yet ascertained. While the firemen departed the scene of the fire at 11:57 hours of today.ā
He advised residents to always ensure timely contact with the Fire Service in any fire-related situation so as to reduce the extent of damage before the arrival of the Firefighters.
āOnce you notice any fire outbreak at that little stage, do well to contact the Fire Service immediately. Do this to help the Fire Service respond and serve us better. Be safety conscious because fire kills but can be prevented,āĀ heĀ added.
