‘MINOR FIRE’ AT DANGOTE REFINERY EFFLUENT PLANT PUT OUT
On Wednesday, a “minor fire” incident was reported at the Dangote Refinery’s effluent treatment plant in Lagos.
Firefighters and other emergency personnel responded quickly, putting out the fire right away.
Videos that went viral showed a dense cloud of smoke rising into the sky from the plant in the Lekki Free Zone, which is close to Lagos.
Anthony Chiejina, a business spokesman, stated in a statement that there was no impact on refinery operations.
āThere is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty,ā he said.
The $20 billion plant, owned by multibillionaire Aliko Dangote, is located in Lagos and started producing 350,000 barrels per day last December. By year’s end, the refinery intends to reach its maximum capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.
The refinery has started providing aviation and diesel fuel to national marketers; the delivery of gasoline is anticipated to start in mid-July.
