BAUCHI LG ELECTION HOLDS AUG 17
The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has shifted, the date for the local government chairmanship and councillorship elections to August 17, 2024.
Bauchi conducted the last local government elections in October 2020 and the PDP won all chairmen and councillorship seats.
Meanwhile, all the 20 local government chairmen and deputies have since then been appointed as caretaker committee chairmen.
“Currently, all the chairmen and deputies were appointed by Governor Bala Mohammed,” Chairman of BASIEC, Ahmed Makaman in a statement.
The statement explained that the plan to hold the elections on August 10 could not be sustained due to some reasons which he did not specify.
He said the elections were adjusted to take place on August 17.
He, therefore, urged all political parties and other stakeholders to note the new adjustment and tidy internal mechanisms for the new date.
