UPDATE: S’SOUTH GOVERNORS ABSENT AT NIGER DELTA SUMMIT
Some current South-South governors were not present at the ongoing Niger Delta Players Summit being held in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, even though prominent players like former president Goodluck Jonathan and a few past governors were there.
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State is the only governor from the South-South to have physically attended the summit, according to a report. Other notable political figures from the Niger Delta, such as Jonathan and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, as well as some representatives from other geopolitical zones, like Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, were also present.
Other governors of the South-South states sent in their deputies to the summit themed “Renewed Hope for Sustainable Development in the Niger Delta Region”.
Former Governors Adams Oshiomhole, Edo State; Donald Duke, Cross River; and Seriake Dickson, Bayelsa were present at the time of filing this report.
The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, who is the host is also represented by the Head of Service of the State, George Nwaeke.
While the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at the time of filing this report was not at the Summit, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, was present at the instance of representing President Bola Tinubu
