PROTEST: GOV ADELEKE SAYS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR VIOLENCE IN OSUN
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged organizers and stakeholders of the August 1 nationwide protest to ensure that Osun State remains free of violence, stating that his administration will not tolerate any acts of violence.
In a statement released by State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, on Tuesday, the governor made this appeal during a meeting with protest organizers, civil society groups, and security personnel at the State Secretariat.
Represented by his Deputy, Kola Adewusi, Governor Adeleke stated at the meeting that while protesting is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Nigerian Constitution, any actions that threaten the peace and tranquility of Osun State and its residents are unacceptable.
He emphasized that maintaining peace and harmony in Osun during the protests is crucial and reiterated his administrationās commitment to making Osun a model for other states in Nigeria.
