On Saturday, French police released US star rapper, Travis Scott after 36 hours in custody in Paris following an investigation into alleged violence, according to a US-based representative for the artist and prosecutors.

The 33-year-old, who has received multiple Grammy Award nominations, was detained after an altercation with one of his security guards at a five-star hotel in Paris.

“Travis Scott has been released without charges,” the representative confirmed.

The Paris prosecutor’s office also confirmed the “release from custody of Travis Scott today, as well as the dismissal of the case due to insufficient evidence.”

Police were called to the Georges V hotel early on Friday, where they arrested the rapper for “violence against a security agent” who had intervened to separate him from his bodyguard, according to the prosecutor’s office.

A US representative for Scott stated later that evening that management was in “direct communication with Parisian authorities to swiftly resolve” the issue.

Scott was seen attending the Olympics men’s basketball semi-finals on Thursday evening.

The rapper, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, has had previous legal encounters in the United States.

He was arrested in Miami Beach in June for trespassing and disorderly intoxication, with police reporting his involvement in a fight on a yacht.

In November 2021, ten people were killed in a crowd crush at his concert during a music festival in his hometown of Houston, Texas.

Despite these incidents, Scott remains a prolific songwriter and producer. His album “Utopia” was nominated for Best Rap Album at this year’s Grammy Awards. He also has merchandising deals with Nike, video game maker Epic Games, and the fast-food chain McDonald’s.

Scott has two children with social media influencer and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner.
