MAYORESS OF IKOSI-ISHERI LCDA PRESENTS OVER 300 FREE GCE FORMS TO STUDENTS

Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, presented free GCE forms to students in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA. This gesture aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents and guardians during economic hardships.

In her speech, Princess Samiat Bada emphasized the importance of education, stating, “Education should never be a privilege accessible only to a few; it is a fundamental right that should be within reach of every aspiring mind, regardless of their background or circumstances.”

She added, “By offering these free GCE forms, we are not just gifting paper and ink; we are investing in dreams, opening doors of opportunity, and paving the path towards a brighter future for our youth.”

She emphasized the importance of involving the youth in the council’s activities, stating, “It’s not only about constructing roads, but we have to also make sure our children, our youths are carried along in what we are doing. Like there’s a saying, the youth are the leaders of tomorrow. But I do say, they are leaders of today, because their leadership starts from today. We must make sure we impact and prepare them.”

Mayoress Bada highlighted the council’s commitment to education excellence, saying, “We are steadfast in our resolve to champion quality education programs that not only educate but inspire, programs that not only instruct but ignite passion, programs that not only inform but transform.” She also mentioned the council’s free Computer/ICT training and other initiatives aimed at empowering the youth.

The Mayoress encouraged the students to take the opportunity seriously, saying, “My message to you all is that you should not see it as you are coming back again next year. No, you all must make sure you are going into the exam and pass the exam.”

Mayoress Bada reiterated her dedication to the community, saying, “My heart is where my community is. This is part of it. It’s not just about constructing roads, But we have to make sure our children, our community, our youth are also carried along in what we are doing, like our slogan is, my heart is where my community is.”

She emphasized that this initiative is a continuous effort, stating, “We will continue to do all of this. When it’s time for JAMB forms, we will definitely do the same thing. We will continue to do this, and this will not be the end.”

Hon. Ogunleye expressed gratitude to the Mayoress for her passion and commitment to education, stating that this program has been an annual event under her leadership. He highlighted that over 300 students have benefited from this exercise, with more still to come.

Hon. Ogunleye urged the students to take the opportunity seriously and perform well in the exam, saying, “They should not say because the GCE form is free, they should endeavor to perform very well in the exam so that they will make us proud as a Government.”

He concluded by thanking the Mayoress for her dedication to education, saying, “Our appreciation to the Mayoress, we always thank her for her passion for education, and year in year out, she has been unrelenting. We thank her for this good work she’s doing.”

Modupe Ogungbo-Alimi, Head of Department (HOD) Education, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, commended Princess Samiat Bada for her unwavering commitment to education. She said, “The love the Mayoress has for education is unmeasurable.”

The Mayoress purchased over 300 GCE forms to assist parents and ease their burden. Ogungbo-Alimi explained the selection process, stating that the program was publicized, and interested candidates applied and underwent screening to become beneficiaries.

Ogungbo-Alimi urged the students to excel and not take the opportunity for granted, saying, “They should read their books and excel because the Mayoress is really trying by procuring this for them, for their future.”

She also highlighted the Mayoress’s future plans for the students, including the establishment of a vocational training center to equip them with skills beyond classroom learning. Ogungbo-Alimi mentioned that the Mayoress has already provided educational materials and renovated classrooms, demonstrating her dedication to education.

Alliu Arafat, a beneficiary expressed her gratitude and pledged to work hard to achieve academic success.

Arafat said, “I’ll ensure to put in my efforts by studying hard to come out in flying colours.” She acknowledged the value of the GCE form, stating, “I know the cost of GCE form, and fortunately, we could get it free of charge courtesy of the Mayoress.”

Arafat also offered a heartfelt prayer for the Mayoress, saying, “May Almighty God continue to elevate her beyond her expectations
