32-YEAR-OLD MAN ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF MINOR IN JIGAWA
On August 29, 2024, at the Dutse Divisional Police Headquarters in Jigawa State, a strange incident occurred. An eight-year-old girl was led into a lavatory by a 32-year-old man named Bashir Umar, who then tormented and sexually raped her.
Umar is from Galamawa town in the Dutse Local Government Area of the state, according to a statement released on Sunday morning by DSP Lawan Adam, the spokesman for the Jigawa Police Command, who confirmed the occurrence.
Adam reported that the girl was the victim of unspeakable torture by the suspect before she was brutally sexually assaulted.
The police spokesman stated that Umar inserted scissors and a spoon into the innocent girl’s private parts.
He added that the suspect injected some undisclosed substance into the private part of the girl, leaving her unconscious and bleeding profusely.
“Thereafter, the perpetrator exploited the girl’s vulnerability, offering her N150 and threatening to harm her and her parents if she disclosed the sexual abuse to anyone,” he said.
Adam said Umar continued to terrorize and sexually assault the helpless girl using the same technique and silencing her with threats whenever he encountered her on her way to school.
He added, “Following the sexual trauma, the victim suffered severe physical consequences, including urinary and stool-related complications.
“The survivor is currently at Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital, Dutse, where she was admitted and receiving treatment.
“The suspect was arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse, for discreet investigation.”
