JUST IN: EGUAVOEN STEPS DOWN AS SUPER EAGLES INTERIM COACH AFTER DRAW IN RWANDA
According to OwnGoalNigeria, Augustine Eguavoen has resigned from his position as the Super Eagles’ temporary coach.
Eguavoen stated that his “mandate was for two games.”
The national team’s head coach was not hired, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointed its technical director in her place.
He oversaw two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for Rwanda and Benin Republic in 2025.
The Eagles drew 0-0 with Rwanda on Tuesday after defeating Benin 3-0 on Saturday.
After the match, Eguavoen spoke at the Kigali Airport and declined to discuss the lead-up to Nigeria’s upcoming match against Libya.
He said: “I have been given a mandate to handle two games.
“I will want to say I am very pleased with the boys and again, thanks to the NFF leadersip and all the boys who supported me.
“It ends today. I can’t talk about Libya, because I haven’t been told about it.”
