#EndBadGovernance: COURT GRANT PROTESTERS N10 MILLION BAIL EACH, ADJOURNS TILL SEPTEMBER 27

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to ten protestors arrested in Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, and Gombe for their participation in the #EndBadGovernance protests.
Each defendant must produce a surety with landed property in Abuja and pay N10 million bail.
Eleojo Opaluwa, Michael Tobiloba Adaramoye, aka Michael Lenin, Angel Innocent, Mosiu Sodiq, Adeyemi Abayomi, and five others arrested in Kano for simply waving flags (Suleiman Yakubu, Buhari Lawal, Bashir Bello [Murtala], Nuradeen Khamis, and Abdulsalam Zubairu) will appear in court in Abuja on Wednesday for a bail hearing.
The young Nigerians have been in Kuje Correctional Centre since September 2, immediately after their arraignment, when the court denied their lawyers’ oral application.

On Wednesday, Justice Emeka Nwite ruled on the bail application presented by their respective counsel, holding that the offences for which the defendants are on trial are bailable and entitled to bail.
He ordered that the surety swear an oath of means, reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and deposit the title paperwork for their property.
The court also ordered the defendants to produce three passport photographs as well as their passports and prohibited them from participating in any public rally.
Meanwhile, Abubakar Marshal, counsel for the first through fourth defendants, informed the court that around 49 protestors were still being held at Kuje Correctional Centre on the court’s order.
The judge consequently deferred the case to September 27 for the start of the trial.
