A VIRAL INFECTION HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED IN CRISTIANO RONALDO
On Monday, as the Saudi club began the redesigned Asian Champions League with a 1-1 tie against Al Shorta in Iraq, Al-Nassr struggled without Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Portuguese sensation, Ronaldo, was diagnosed with a viral virus, according to a statement released by Al-Nassr the day before the game, thus, he did not travel with the group to Baghdad.
The statement read: “Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t feeling well today and was diagnosed with a viral infection.
“The team’s doctor confirmed he needs to rest and stay at his place.
“As a result, he will not be travelling with the team to Iraq today. We wish a speedy recovery to our captain.”
Al-Nassr, who were eliminated by eventual winners Al Ain in the Asian Champions League quarterfinals last season, had a dream start in the Iraqi capital on the 14th minute when full-back Sultan Al Ghannam finished low past Al Shorta goalkeeper Ahmed Basil after Otavio’s shrewd first-time pass.
Since joining the Saudi team, Ronaldo has not yet taken home a significant trophy with Al-Nassr.
