JUST IN: COURT RESTRAINS INEC FROM RELEASING VOTER REGISTER TO RIVERS STATE INEC FOR LG POLL
An Abuja-based court has blocked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from releasing the 2023 voters’ record to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.
This came when a high court in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, ordered the RSIEC to hold the state’s next local government elections using the 2023 voter registration.
Justice I. Igwe of the High Court issued the order on September 4, 2024, in a case filed by the Action People’s Party (APP) against the state electoral umpire, the Rivers State government, and the governor of Rivers State.
