OSUN YOUTHS JOIN #OCTOBER1PROTEST, SEEK SUBSIDY REVERSAL
On Tuesday October 1 2024 Youths stormed the streets of Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to voice their frustrations over the country’s economic challenges.
President Bola Tinubu was urged to restore the fuel subsidy by the protesters, who were spotted holding placards with various messages on them.
They claimed that this would lessen the rising expense of life, especially the notable spike in food costs.
The demonstrators began their march from the Old Garage of Nelson Mandela Freedom Park and marched through several important parts of the city, such as Oke-Fia, Dada Estate, and Dele Yes Sir. They marched along Oba Adesoji Aderemi Way towards Ogo-Oluwa and ended at the Olaiya flyover intersection.
Security guards followed the demonstrators to keep the peace while they chanted solidarity songs to make their demands heard louder.
The October 1 protest, called #FearlessInOctober, is a follow-up to the August 1–10 #EndBadGovernance protests, which were sparked by the severe economic hardship that many Nigerians are experiencing.
